How to Remove Shortcut Virus from Pendrive and Restore files
First of all, I am going to share my personal experience with you.
Today My friend inserted USB drive in a computer and what I have
seen that the computer is infected with Shortcut Virus . I did not know
that the Computer has shortcut virus. The more strange thing is that
there is an Anti-Virus software is installed on that computer. But the
anti-virus software is not doing its job. Then I have come to know that
all files stored on pen drive is now looking like a Shortcut and my friend can
only access these files from the infected computer only.If you have the same problem, you can read this post.
Remove Shortcut Virus 1st Method:
Insert the pen drive in a Linux based computer. You will be able to see those viruses in a Linux based computer. Now delete those files. If you or friends don’t have any Linux based computer then follow method two.
Remove Shortcut Virus 2nd Method:
VIA CMD-
Click on "Start" -->Run --> type cmd and click on OK.
Here I assume your pendrive letter as G:
Enter this command.
attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*
You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and paste it.
Note : Don't forget to replace the letter g with your pen drive letter.
Press Enter
Now check for your files in Pen Drive.
Copy your files and folder into somewhere save and then format your pen
drive. After that, copy back your files and folder back into your pen drive.
